Kevin Gift and Adam Boltz, Princeton University
The “Internet of Things”, according to Webopedia, is defined as a network of physical objects with internet connectivity that communicate with each other and other internet-enabled systems. Two years ago we gave a presentation at Cornell on “Framing the IoT at Princeton University”. In the two years since that presentation Princeton has worked to develop IoT guidelines and has gained more practical experience in several of our IoT use cases. In this presentation we will provide details on what we have learned and how we plan on working with the entire campus community (administrative and academic) to encourage collaborative efforts on building our IoT ecosystem. Everything from hardware sensors to analytics tools will be discussed from both the technical and business perspective (don’t worry – we talk fast!) While Princeton will provide guidelines there is still plenty of guesswork in any practical IoT deployment these days, so we will encourage a healthy dialogue with our audience to see how we can work together to turn guesses into plans.
