Saving wasted energy on computers is often overlooked, and always misunderstood. An effective, verifiable strategy can however be a lucrative area for significant impact of energy cost savings, carbon reduction, and other sustainability goals. Many IT organizations believe they have this covered with Microsoft Group Policy Objects or SCCM, however these products lack the reliability, accurate reporting, and production system features to correctly, and truthfully report cost, kWh, and carbon savings.
Computer Power Management is not a new concept, however with few exceptions, many organizations perform a one and done, meaning implement, claim savings for a year, then IT resources are diverted to other projects. The Green initiative withers, maintenance is not renewed, and the organization settles for an estimate of savings.
IT department resources are strapped and often plan their projects sometimes years in advance. Cloud based IOT projects resolve this costly and unproductive dilemma by administering savings as SaaS.
We will discuss the merits of this approach in this session.
